Network Administrator
Ever since getting out of the Navy and starting my civilian life and careers, I have always fallen into Networking as secondary rolls alongside my Design/Drafting primary job description sine 1993 without much formal training that still puts me into 20+ years hands on experience starting with Novell, and then moving into the various releases of Windows Server and Exchange Server up to the latest 2012 ServerI have maintained a high interest in technology ever since I left the navy in 1990. I am pretty much a self learner, except for the basics in Autocad I have pushed myself to learn other design/drafting software programs such as Solidworks, Revit, Microstation, Autodesk P&ID, Autodesk Inventor. I feel there is nothing I cannot draw in 2 Dimensional circles and lines to 3 Dimensional parts and assemblies.
CAD-Design/Drafting
After I was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1990, I had a short stint in doing some "collections" repo work for a few years, but found my heart wasn't into repo'n things from families who were struggling with payments, so I decided to make a career change and signed up for a 2 year Associates Degree in Mechanical drafting.
After graduating from Denver Institute of Technology with my new Associates degree in Mechanical drafting, I landed a job at first doing the design drafting for kitchen layouts for Westin Inn Hotels working in the Denver Tech Center. After leaving that company, I moved onto MEP mainly designing HVAC temperature controls working on a variety of projects including the Denver Zoo amphibius center, mostly using Autocad at the time.
In 1997 I moved to San Diego and continued doing MEP work working more with architecs and multi level building laying out the HVAC and Plumbing plan and profiles, mostly in 2d environment. About 2000, I moved onto working for a company specializing in corrosion protection on pipelines all throughout San Diego, AZ areas and these days my main job is in Network Adminitstration but I also do contract work with an engineering company that still specializes in corrosion protection.
Website Building
I think it was about 2000 when I first started teaching myself about website building. This was a time before Facebook, Instagram etc. so I had to find a way to share the photos I was taking throughout my weekend excurstions. I bought my first domain name, then went through the learning process of figuring out some basic html. From there I had to figure out how to make it live and I have been running websites ever since. I have since moved onto WordPress sites as they offer a lot of sometimes cool plugins and sometimes not so cool. This website here is currently running off my personal server and built from the ground up using L.A.M P. Linux, Apache, Mysql and PHP. Im always trying to learn new things and that has brought me to the point where I am now hosting a few test sites and a few personal sites on my own server.
Media Editing
Throughout various hobbies Ive picked up over time with my involvement in sports I have enjoyed adding Photography with tools such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, Videography with Adobe Premier, some Audio Editing with Adobe Audition.
Jack of many trades and keep adding more
