Part time photographer based in San Diego, specializing in mainly action type photography whether it be skateboarding, roller derby, xtreme quad, cars and motorcycles, basically if it moves, bleeds or rusts I will shoot it. Since I can be a man of many words, sometimes too many I will spare y’all any story telling about my photography and those I have gotten to cross paths with over time. I will save those for my grandkids who will be forced to hear them, over and over again.
As a youngster back in the mid 70s I got turned onto skateboarding when my family moved from Denver to Pasadena and I had been hooked ever since. Growing up through the 70s, 80s looking at photos in Skateboarder Magazine and later on Thrasher, seeing people like Tom Inouye, Chris Strople, the DTS gang, Veribots and Bones brigade were always my inspiration to skate, but even more so to get into photography as I admired the work of Glen E. Friedman, Jim Goodrich, C.R. Stecyk III, Warren Bolster and Ted Terrebone (RIP) just to name a few of the earlier inspirations but many more later on in life Grant Brittain, Dave Swift, Brian Fick and my good friend George Crosland
I cant say that I have any special styles that hadnt been done already for those that I had strived to be like, I just simply like shooting, I don’t do good with candids as I feel im intruding but I absolutely love a good candid shot. I have been fortunate to be featured on the cover of the San Diego Reader January 19th 2023 feature Natalie Das in the Rough Riders of Mexico write up. HEY, I just now realized during this write up that edition was put out on my birthday for the double win. I have also been featured and graced a few pages in Juice Magazine, Aniclique, Dog Days along with nice little variety of advertisement shots for those same magazines
When not behind the camera, I would like to say im still skateboarding but ive been off the board for so long now that I don’t feel comfortable calling myself a skater anymore, although I will still drop int a bowl from time to time but my main mission these days is to capture those split seconds in time that I get to capture and sharing the memories with family and friend I meet along the way.
I will be in the process of rebuilding bowlrider.com to share the skateboarding and quad bowl skating, as well as soulcaptor.com where I will share some roller derby stuff, cars, motorcycles and maybe even scenery.
